A season for new changes in the lavender garden..

What a year it has been and we are finally on the week before our Open Days for 2024. We had a very wet winter and this left us with A LOT of dead plants in our newly created beds in the garden and field that just didn't survive. Very frustrating and a time for us to sit down together and find a resolution that would carry us through whatever the weather throws at us in the future.

Our raised beds in the garden and around the farm all survived well with only a handful of casualties so Grant's idea to redesign the garden was put into action. He was amazing and set to creating raised beds across the entire lavender garden. The field will slowly be replanted with hardier varieties so for now it is a test plot of different varieties including a new herb area. Grant is really the driving force that has brought Sue's vision for the garden to life over the years and this year was no exception to handy skills in landscaping. A massive thank you.

We have chosen a nice mix of English lavenders which are more suited to our Scottish weather as well as our oil producing Grosso lavender in these new raised beds, so we look forward to the show they put on in years to come.
